Energy vampires

Last week I mentioned how I've just resigned from a charitable trust where I was secretary. This organisation has become hopelessly moribund due to years or perhaps decades of bad management.

As I travel around dental practices I also see some that function at a similar, very low level of energy.

While researching this topic and looking for solutions I came across an excellent article. Click the link below to read the full article.

In summary the article is about "energy vampires" – people who suck away all positive energy and leave you feeling drained, negative and unhappy. They magnify problems, are overly dramatic, overly critical, argumentative and always see the glass as half empty.

A practice I know fairly well sacked an "energy vampire" a while ago. The results were astonishing – the production immediately shot up by 30%, the dentists were happier and a high staff turnover problem disappeared overnight. The practice owner agonised over the decision for ages but the moment it was made every business aspect of the practice improved remarkably.

So, the question is: Do you have an "energy vampire" in your practice?

I encourage you to read the article and look for the signs.

Thanks. Have a good week.
