Worst powerpoint slide ever!

A few years ago I attended a major seminar where the audience was primarily general dentists. One of the speakers stood out from all the others because of the massive amount of technical detail they had on their powerpoint slides.

We were hit with slide after slide each packed densely with 350 to 400 words in hard to read colour combinations. It was like trying to drink from a fire hose. So much information was thrown at us that we could not tell what was the real message of the talk.

I'd love to share one of the slides with you but I won't to avoid embarrassing the specialist in question. I still keep some of the slides on my computer as a reminder of how atrociously bad powerpoint can be.What's the relevance of this to your practice?

Just as this speaker bamboozled a room full of dentists, dentists often bamboozle their patients. We fall in love with the technical nature of our subject and give patients way too much detail. We leave them with their head swimming and confused as to what the real message is.

And, when patients get information overload they stop listening. This year I have only one more case acceptance workshop on 28 April. In it I'll show you what to tell the patient and how to say it.

It's possible to present any type of case in 2 minutes or less if you stick to what is important and leave out the background noise.
