What you don't say is important

Dr Mark HassedI've given you a lot of suggestions on how to make your case acceptance discussions short and to the point and here is another factor to consider. Not having to say things also contributes to your efficiency. What do I mean by that? Many dentists open up discussions about technical details by telling patients things that they don't need to know. For example, a dentist may mention that he will use precious alloy in a crown and suddenly the patient sparks up and starts asking all about the different materials a crown can be made of. Or a dentist may show a patient about root fillings only to suddenly have to conduct a prolonged tutorial on the subject. The variations on this theme are many.Do you find yourself having to answer frequent questions from patients during case acceptance discussions? If so, then you need to rethink what you are saying. Ask yourself whether there is a simpler, less technical way of explaining things that doesn't call forth questions.
