The joy of the mundane

Dr Mark HassedDentists like to do big "hero" cases. You know the ones -- 14 crowns and 2 implants. It makes us feel proud and also is well remunerated. But, "mundane" dentistry has it's joys as well. And, when set up right, it can be totally stress free and a good earner.Recently I got to do some children's dentistry. I found it to be a nice break to the day. You are only in the treatment room briefly (say 10 minutes) and in that time you can do an examination, bitewings, polish and fluoride. The fact that there are no lab costs makes it profitable. One thing though. you do need two surgeries and two nurses to do it well. Otherwise the set-up and clean up times make the whole thing not profitable.
